Mapping Motion Capture Data
Using the material from my first marker sessions in the motion capture studio I have figured out how to map the data onto a biped. Many people use Motion Builder as its long been the best application to do so. But with no access to the application I took the long route around and I'm mapping TRC data in 3dsmax.
I searched and searched and finally found solutions to the problems I was faced with. Having to convert the TRC data into CSM was a pain as early on I didn't know about the CSM marker naming structure. Which meant I had to convert the files and then manually alter around 30 markers, deleting the other ones that had no use.
With lesions learned I have already prepared a plan and renaming structure for my next motion capture session and I'm ready to go into it with confidence.
Learning Motion Capture
After the painstaking process of organizing and sorting out the motion capture facilities it has now begun. Using EvART5.0 I have begun to learn how to capture and produce usable motion capture data. Its working out amazing and honestly its great fun, I have a few blisters and bruises from the actions but its all worth the pain.
I have been directing the work towards a Crysis modification I'm working on called 28 Months Later, in a sense killing two ducks with one stone. Not only learning the tools but also getting some useful and productive work out of it.
Currently I'm in the process of mapping the marker data to a skeletal structure so unfortunately I don't have any media on final animations. None the less here is a video of the team in action.
